Our ancestors are the Jadids

“The ideological-political, socio-educational and legal-moral views put forward by our great enlightened ancestors, along with the establishment of the principles of tolerance and solidarity between different nations and peoples, as well as their efforts to protect national interests, are a true example for all of us, especially our youth, in these difficult and dangerous times. Their lives and courage remind us that today's peaceful and prosperous days were not achieved easily, and they always call us to protect our national independence, our beloved Motherland like the apple of our eye.” These profound and true thoughts were expressed in the congratulatory message of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev to the participants of the international conference “Jadidlar: Ideas of National Identity, Independence and Statehood” recently held in our capital.

It is no coincidence that the quote from the congratulatory message of the Leader of the Nation specifically emphasizes the Jadids' promotion of "ideological-political, socio-enlightenment and legal-moral views." Because the activities of our enlightened ancestors were not limited to the field of literature. They advocated the development of almost all areas of the social sphere, such as education and enlightenment, history and development, theater and dramaturgy, art and music, philosophy and logic, national statehood and law, nature and geography. It is also worth noting that the President of Uzbekistan also touched upon this topic at an expanded meeting of the Republican Council for Spirituality and Enlightenment held on December 22, 2023. At that time, our President, among other things, emphasized:

“As history shows, in situations where threats to the fate of the Motherland and the people intensified, it was the national heroes - bright-hearted intellectuals, poets and writers, artists, workers in the field of spirituality and enlightenment who courageously took the stage. At a time when our country is entering a new, high stage of its development, we need mature personnel who, like our Jadid ancestors, were educated in the spirit of national values, along with the achievements of Western science, like water and air.”

Consequently, today we need to study the state and prospects of Jadidism in depth in all aspects. And when studying, it will be necessary to carefully analyze and interpret the various aspects of the Jadidism phenomenon not only within literary studies, but also within the framework of all disciplines. This, in turn, requires the implementation of a number of scientific and practical works.
