The Department of Childhood Diseases was organized in 1920 under the direction of Associate Professor A.N. Ustinov. A.N. Ustinov headed the department until 1922. From 1922 to 1924, the department was headed by Professor Vasily Ivanovich Lysenko. From 1927 to 1930, the department was headed by Professor Nikolai Ivanovich Osinovsky. He graduated from the Military Medical Academy in 1919. In 1922, he defended his doctoral dissertation. His main works were devoted to the clinical aspects and diagnosis of scurvy, rubella, cerebrospinal meningitis, and diseases of the gastrointestinal tract. From 1930 to 1960, the department was headed by Professor Rafail Samuilovich Gershenovich. He was a member of the Berlin and Paris Pediatric Societies and an Honored Scientist of Uzbekistan. Gershenovich R.S. graduated from the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Paris in 1907. In 1935, he defended his doctoral dissertation. He is the author of more than 150 scientific papers devoted to the clinical presentation and diagnosis of gastrointestinal diseases, pellagra, childhood tuberculosis, leishmaniasis, and blood diseases. Due to the increase in the number of students, the Faculties of Medicine and Hygiene and General Medicine were opened in 1935. A special Department of Pediatrics was established for these faculties. From 1935 to 1966, the department was headed by Honored Scientist, Professor Konstantin Gerasimovich Titov. From 1966-1967 and 1975-1990, the department was headed by Honored Scientist of Uzbekistan, "Honored Doctor of Uzbekistan," Professor Mannaf Atamatovich Mirzamukhamedov. His scientific works were devoted to the clinical features and diagnosis of diseases of the digestive system. Under his supervision, 6 doctoral and 30 candidate dissertations were defended. From 1955-1966, he served as Rector of the Samarkand Medical Institute. From 1967-1975, he was Director of the Pediatrics Research Institute. From 1977-1980, he was Dean of the Second Faculty of General Medicine at Tashkent State Medical Institute, and from 1980-1982, he served as Dean of the Preparatory Faculty. In 1968-1972, the department was headed by the Honored Scientist of Uzbekistan, laureate of the State Prize named after Abu Rayhan Beruniy, professor Orkhon Sirojiddinovich Makhmudov. Makhmudov O.S. graduated from the Tashkent State Medical Institute in 1943. In 1966, he defended his doctoral dissertation. Under his supervision, 10 doctoral and 50 candidate dissertations were defended. He is the author of more than 300 scientific publications. His scientific works are devoted to the study of current problems of childhood infectious diseases. In 1966-1968 he was the dean of the sanitary and hygienic faculty, in 1968-1972 he was the vice-rector for scientific work of the institute. In 1976-1983 he was the director of the Research Institute of Pediatrics. In 1983-1984 he worked as Deputy Minister of Health of the Republic of Uzbekistan. Makhmudov O.S. He was awarded orders and medals of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
From 1972 to 1975, the department was headed by Associate Professor Valentina Pavlovna Yeletskaya. At that time, the Department of Childhood Diseases was created on the basis of the Children's Department of the Tashkent State Medical Institute for the faculties of Dentistry and Sanitation and Hygiene, headed by M.R. Nuritdinov.
Maiddin Rasulovich Nuritdinov, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor, Honored Doctor of Uzbekistan. M.R. Nuritdinov graduated from the Tashkent State Medical Institute in 1952. In 1972, he defended his doctoral dissertation. He is the author of over 100 scientific papers. From 1972 to 1996, he headed the Department of Pediatrics of the Sanitary-Hygienic and Dental Faculty. From 1971 to 1972, he was Dean of the Faculty of Pediatrics at the Tashkent State Medical Institute, and from 1972 to 1976, he was Dean of the Faculty of Pediatrics at the Tashkent State Medical Institute. Dean of the Preparatory Department, 1976-1978 - Dean of the Faculty of Advanced Teacher Training. From 1978 to 1980, he was Dean of Internship and Practice. Supervised 1 Doctor of Science and 4 Candidates of Science. After the division of the Tashkent State Medical Institute into two, the department headed by Professor M.A. Mirzamukhamedov became part of the 2nd Tashkent State Medical Institute. The department headed by Professor M.R. Nuritdinov remained part of the 1st Tashkent State Medical Institute. From 1996 to 2008, the department was headed by Professor Ilkhom Nizamovich Nizametdinov. Nizametdinov I.N. Graduated from SamMI in 1972. In 1992, he defended his doctoral dissertation. Supervised 2 Doctors of Science and 7 Candidates of Science. Author of over 200 scientific papers, 3 monographs, and 56 textbooks. At that time, the department established scientific and practical ties with the Dutch Medical Center and the Department of Pediatrics of the Kazakh State Medical University, as well as with the Pediatric Immunology and Allergology program. In 1999, a Department of Pediatrics for sixth- and seventh-year students was established at the Tashkent State Medical Institute. Professor Diloram Ilkhomovna Akhmedova became the head of the department. D.I. Akhmedova graduated from Sampi (now Tashkent Pediatric Medical Institute) in 1980. In 1997, she defended her doctoral dissertation. She is the author of over 150 scientific articles and a member of the State Commission for the "Healthy Generation" program. Under her supervision, 2 doctoral and more than 10 candidate dissertations were defended.

In 2005, the Tashkent Medical Academy was established and the Department of Childhood Diseases, Neonatology, and Medical Genetics was organized. Professor I.N. Nizametdinov headed the department (until 2008).
From 2008 to 2012, the department was headed by Academician of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Professor Turgunpulat Obidovich Daminov. During this time, the department was called "Infectious Diseases and Pediatrics." T.A. Daminov is the author of more than 350 scientific papers, 4 textbooks, and 12 monographs. Under his leadership, 5 scientific collections have been published. Under his supervision, 20 doctoral and 40 candidate dissertations were defended.
From 2012 to 2022, she headed the department. Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor Khalmatova Barno Turdikhodzhaevna. Khalmatova B.T. graduated from SAMPI in 1989. Since 1993, she worked as an assistant in the Department of Childhood Diseases at TashPMI. In 2006, she defended her doctoral dissertation. Author of 10 textbooks, 4 monographs, 4 teaching aids, more than 200 scientific publications, more than 50 educational and methodological recommendations. Under her supervision, 1 doctoral and 3 candidate dissertations were defended. Today, the department staff carries out research on the diagnosis and treatment of the most common bronchopulmonary, allergic, and cardiovascular diseases in children.

Dilbar Rakhimovna Kurbanova
Candidate of Medical Sciences, Associate Professor. Graduated from Sampi in 1973. From 1975 to 1977, she worked as a district pediatrician at Polyclinic No. 15 in Tashkent. From 1979 to 1981, she completed her clinical training. Residency in pediatrics at the First Moscow Medical Institute. In 1990, she defended her PhD dissertation. Khudoykulov Erkin Abdurazakovich
Candidate of Medical Sciences, Associate Professor. Graduated from TashPMI in 1992. From 1992 to 1993, he completed a clinical residency in resuscitation and anesthesiology.
