December 8 — The day of the adoption of the Constitution of the Republic of Uzbekistan is recognized as a very important political and legal event in the history of national statehood. Our Basic Constitution, adopted on December 8, 1992, served as a foundation for building an independent democratic state and created the basis for the country's legal system, human rights and sustainable development of society. In the national referendum held on April 30, 2023, our people, demonstrating their high political consciousness, legal culture and worldview, voted in favor of the new edition of the Constitution of the Republic of Uzbekistan (90.21%). The new edition of the Constitution came into force on May 1, 2023. The new edition of the Constitution of Uzbekistan consists of a preamble, 6 sections, 27 chapters, and 155 articles. (previously, 6 sections, 26 chapters, and 128 articles)
December 8 — Constitution Day is celebrated in our country not only as a legal holiday, but also as a national day of spiritual and educational significance. On this day, events, round tables and scientific conferences are held among educational institutions, organizations and the public aimed at widely disseminating the content and essence of our Constitution.
